Job summary

Co-op Group is seeking a part-time Funeralcare team member in Loughton. The role involves assisting with preparation, transportation and care of the deceased, while delivering compassionate client service within a welcoming funeral home environment.

No prior funeral industry experience is required as full training and ongoing support are provided, along with a competitive salary, excellent pension, and Co-op discounts.

Qualifications

• Excellent communication with clients and colleagues, both written and verbal.
• Confident numeracy and cash handling, with basic data entry and invoicing.
• Keen eye for detail and accuracy, with adherence to regulatory policies.
• Good IT skills across devices and the ability to learn new applications.
• Empathy, discretion and care in handling sensitive bereavement services.
• Ability to perform physical tasks such as moving coffins with proper training.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain positive relationships with clients and the community.
• Support clients in person and over the phone, arranging family visits and answering questions.
• Keep the funeral home clean, safe and welcoming, reporting maintenance issues.
• Use digital systems to manage client documentation, funeral arrangements and invoicing.
• Refer regulated work like selling funeral plans to the Funeral Plan Arrangers.
• Assist with manual handling of coffins and preparation of the deceased.
• Update client management applications with timely, accurate information.
