Job summary

Chelmsford Star Co-op is recruiting a Funeral Services Co-ordinator to oversee the diary and day‑to‑day operations of allocated care centres, ensuring compassionate care for families and a respectful funeral service.

You’ll manage equipment, safety procedures, paperwork for deaths, stock of coffins, and budget and scorecard targets, while building strong relationships with colleagues and upholding our cooperative values.

Responsibilities

• Manage fleeting requirements and ensure fleet is clean and full
• Maintain equipment and train colleagues on proper use
• Prioritise safety and security procedures for colleagues, Members and clients
• Perform daily safe and legal checks to keep homes trading smoothly
• Ensure accurate completion of paperwork related to care for people who have died (mortuary register, ashes register, identification processes) and manage stock of coffins
• Collaborate with Funeral Operations Lead to develop colleagues’ skills and training
• Monitor budget and scorecard performance to meet targets
• Audit work schedules to ensure full coverage and accurate pay
