Job summary

Chelmsford Star Co-op is seeking a compassionate Funeral Advisor to support families through every step of the funeral arrangement process within our local funeral homes. You will work to high standards, build trusted relationships, and cover additional funeral homes as required due to sickness or holidays.

In this role, you’ll blend empathy with organisational skills, manage delicate details and costs, and ensure clients feel informed and supported throughout the process.

Qualifications

• Compassionate nature with active listening to support grieving families.
• Keen eye for detail; ability to handle complex information with sensitivity.
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel within the area.

Responsibilities

• Develop knowledge of services offered and help personalise funeral arrangements to families.
• Arrange funerals with attention to detail and transparency of cost.
• Communicate arrangements clearly between family and Funeral Director.
• Handle administration tasks with accuracy, sensitivity and care.
• Ensure funeral home is clean, tidy and secure (alarms) at all times.
• Promote Funeral Services within the local community and build relationships with hospitals, nursing homes, clergy and doctors.
• Comply with statutory and internal policies and procedures.
• Daily care checks and preparation for visiting rooms; ensure dignified presentation of the deceased.
