Job summary

Co-op Group in Canterbury is seeking staff to join our Funeralcare team. Join a caring, service-minded environment where you’ll help families say goodbye with dignity. Full training is provided, and you’ll work a 37.5 hour week, Monday to Friday, 9am–5pm.

You’ll gain experience across client relations, administration and basic care tasks in a supportive team, with a comprehensive benefits package and discounts on Co-op services.

Qualifications

• Good communication skills, with clear written and verbal ability.
• Ability to confidently work with numbers and handle cash, discounts, data entry and invoicing.
• Keen eye for detail to ensure regulatory policies and processes are followed.
• Proficient IT skills across devices and systems; able to learn new applications quickly.
• Demonstrates empathy, discretion and care in client interactions.
• Able to perform physical elements like moving coffins with appropriate training.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain positive relationships with clients and the community.
• Support clients in person and over the phone, arrange family visits and answer questions.
• Keep the funeral home clean, safe and welcoming, and report maintenance issues.
• Use digital systems to manage client documentation, funeral arrangements and invoicing.
