Job summary

Co-op Funeralcare in Ferryhill is seeking a dedicated Funeral Arranger to join a friendly team. The role is part-time (20 hours per week), with a split shift pattern Mon-Fri, 9am-1pm one week and 1pm-5pm the next. Training and ongoing support are provided, with a competitive salary, pension, and staff discounts.

You’ll handle client relations, family visits, and arrange funeral details while ensuring a respectful, confidential and empathetic service aligned with health and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Clear and effective communication with clients and colleagues, in writing and verbally.
• Ability to perform basic calculations, handle cash, and process invoices.
• Attention to regulatory policies and accuracy in records.
• Strong IT aptitude to use varied devices and systems and learn new applications.
• Passion for delivering excellent service and building relationships.
• High levels of empathy, discretion and care in dealing with families.
• Willingness to perform physical tasks including moving coffins as trained.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain positive relationships with clients and the community.
• Support clients in person and over the phone, arranging family visits and answering questions.
• Keep the funeral home clean, safe and welcoming, report maintenance issues.
• Use digital systems to manage client documentation, funeral arrangements and invoicing.
• Refer all regulated work to Funeral Plan Arrangers.
• Assist in the care and preparation of the deceased and in viewing preparation.
• Update client management applications with accurate information.
