Job summary

Co-op Group is seeking a part-time Funeralcare Assistant in Ferryhill to support families and colleagues with compassion and professionalism. The role includes preparing and caring for the deceased, arranging visits, and maintaining a respectful, compliant environment within the funeral home.

Full training and ongoing support are provided. You will engage with clients both face-to-face and over the phone, ensuring accurate documentation and smooth service delivery.

Qualifications

• Excellent communication, written and spoken.
• Basic math, cash handling, discounts, data entry and invoicing.
• Attention to regulatory policies and accuracy.
• Proficient with computers, tablets, smartphones and printers; able to learn new apps.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain positive relationships with clients and community.
• Support clients in person and by phone, arranging visits and answering questions.
• Keep funeral home clean, safe and welcoming; report maintenance issues.
• Use digital systems to manage client records, arrangements and invoicing.
• Inform clients about funeral plans and refer to Funeral Plan Arrangers where required.
• Assist with manual handling of coffins and preparation of the deceased.
