Job summary

Co-op is hiring a Funeral Arranger on a 12-month contract for part-time hours (18.75 per week) in Braintree. The role involves preparing, transporting and caring for the deceased, with full training provided.

You will support clients in person and by phone, maintain a respectful environment, and handle documentation and invoicing using digital systems. Comfort with physical duties and the ability to work as part of a compassionate team are essential.

Qualifications

• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to handle cash and perform basic calculations.
• Attention to regulatory policies and accurate record-keeping.
• Proficient IT skills across devices and systems.
• High levels of empathy, discretion and care.
• Ability to perform physical elements safely with training provided.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain positive client and community relationships.
• Assist clients in person and by phone, arrange family visits and answer questions.
• Keep the funeral home clean, safe and welcoming and report maintenance issues.
• Use digital systems to manage client documentation, funeral arrangements and invoicing.
• Refer regulated work (funeral plans) to Funeral Plan Arrangers.
• Assist with manual handling of coffins and care of the deceased as trained.
• Update client management applications with timely, accurate information.
