About the job

Main Purpose of role

The Commissioning and Asset Adoption Manager will lead the asset adoption process on multiple district heating and cooling projects across the London Region. The assets vary from energy centres with air source heat pumps, storage, pumping & distribution systems, water treatment, and control systems to risers, laterals, HIUs, and meters. The role involves verifying assets during installation and commissioning to ensure they meet quality, safety, and operational standards.

The role is involved from early project stages, influencing design and construction plans to facilitate successful commissioning and asset handover. You will develop procedures for adopting new heating and cooling assets and networks from external developers and internal teams.

The position requires onsite presence and office work, including reviewing commissioning plans, developing handover plans, witnessing commissioning activities, and supporting technical processes.

You will report to the Head of Delivery and Operations, working with internal teams and external service providers, contractors, and developers. Your responsibilities include evaluating operational networks, reviewing procedures, and participating in continuous improvement initiatives. You may also contribute to maintenance and lifecycle strategies and support district heating and cooling asset operations.

Occasionally, you will act as Lead Receiver Representative (LRR) for projects managed by Vattenfall’s in-house team, ensuring smooth handovers and task execution.

This role offers opportunities to connect with the Nordic heat business and the UK heat industry, contributing to delivery practices and performance enhancement.

Key Responsibilities / Duties
  • Follow Vattenfall processes for asset transition from design to construction and operation.
  • Coordinate onboarding of new customers and assets with relevant managers.
  • Contribute to design stages with operational and performance inputs.
  • Participate in HAZID and HAZOP workshops as operational authority.
  • Develop and manage commissioning plans and strategies.
  • Confirm and validate commissioning acceptance criteria.
  • Coordinate commissioning activities with project teams to ensure asset adoption.
  • Witness asset installation and commissioning, confirming quality and compliance.
  • Support network acquisition through asset evaluation.
  • Promote health and safety practices for operational readiness.
  • Identify and resolve risks during installation and commissioning.
  • Maintain high standards of communication and stakeholder engagement.
  • Manage regional commissioning contractors to ensure completion of snagging.
  • Conduct post-adoption reviews and lessons learned for continuous improvement.
Your profile
  • Experience with asset adoption, process safety, construction, commissioning, and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation (e.g., CDM, DSEAR, PSSR, PUWER, LOLER, COSHH, L8).
  • Experience with HAZID, HAZOP processes.
  • Ability to interpret technical design information.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and influencing skills.
  • Familiarity with asset management tools and digital technologies.
  • Analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Leadership experience and ability to manage multiple stakeholders.
  • Proficiency with Office suite.
  • Experience in district heating or building services sector.
  • Adaptability to internal and external changes.
  • Negotiating and persuading skills.
