Job Summary

An opportunity has arisen within the REAL Alliance Project for a Commercial Manager.

This role will involve:

  • All duties required by the commercial department or project team, to ensure successful setup and running of a project or projects in compliance with all company standards and in particular the “Commercial Manual”.
  • Responsibility within the Project Team to ensure projects are setup on the company accounting system with a suitable Work Breakdown Structure.
  • Responsibility for inputting budget & tender data from successful tenders into the Company accounting/Reporting System.
  • Responsibility within the Commercial Department and Project Team with the preparation of the monthly project reports from the Company accounting/Reporting System for both internal & client purposes.
  • Responsibility for the preparation of the monthly Applications and Invoicing to ensure submission in a timely manner of an accurate document aimed at maximising the company’s financial position.
  • Take responsibility for notifying your client early of any increased project value or delay to project completion.
  • Meeting clients and commercial representative on a monthly basis to discuss certificates and discuss agreement and levels of substantiation required to close out change control items and application for payment queries.
  • Responsibility for the collection of cash and pursuit of certificates from clients in a timely manner, in order to maximise the company’s cash flow position.
  • Responsibility for inputting Applications and invoices (recording accurately) onto the company accounts system including payment certificates.

Job Requirements

You will be self-motivated with a pro-active approach and have experience of managing fluctuating workloads, working under pressure, meeting tight deadlines and working off your own initiative. A high level of accuracy and attention to detail is essential.

To be considered for this role you must have:

  • Must have Degree or equivalent in Quantity Surveying.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Demonstrable legal, contractual and construction knowledge and experience.
  • Proven and significant experience in a commercial environment. Preferably within a Rail/Construction related industry.
  • A creative, strategic and innovative approach to problem solving.
  • Confidence and ability to assert influence.
  • Computer literate and working knowledge in Microsoft office applications.
  • Previous experience of COINs would be advantageous.
