About the role

We are seeking a Commercial Manager with NEC Option A & C experience and the behaviours and competencies required to manage activity across multiple sites. Experience in the Power sector such as Substations or Overhead Lines (OHL) is not essential.

We welcome applicants from a wide range of sectors, including Utilities, Roads, Housing, and other infrastructure disciplines, provided they bring strong, transferable commercial skills.

This role forms part of the ASTI framework, supporting the delivery of major infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate can be based in Inverness, with flexibility to travel as required.

What you'll be doing
  • Manage commercial performance of a series of projects within the Delivery Unit.
  • Ensure consistent application of the commercial process.
  • Provide commercial support to the Director of Operations to manage project and commercial risk.
  • Ensure financial performance meets or exceeds profitability targets.
  • Responsible for margin confidence, commercial risk, and cashflow of projects valued between £10m and £100m.
  • Direct reports proportionate to the number of projects and value of work under management.
  • Support the Commercial Director in fulfilling obligations within the Delivery Unit.
  • Provide commercial assurance of projects under management.
  • Collaborate with procurement surveyors for timely and accurate subcontract placements.
  • Ensure accurate forecasting and identification of commercial risks.
  • Manage commercial performance, cashflow, margin, and risk.
  • Support contract management and create commercial value.
  • Understand customer requirements in specific sectors and manage projects accordingly.

  • Manage across multiple sites including base site Elgin or Inverness or Aberdeen.
  • Business acumen to develop commercial opportunities and exceed profitability targets.
  • Experience managing project commercial performance.

  • Professional membership of RICS, CIOB, or ICE is desirable.
