Job Title: Command/Area Performance Manager - HC622835

Location: Portsmouth

Hours: 24 hours per week

Contract: Temporary for 12 Months

If you would like to apply for this temporary post as a secondment you must have the prior approval of your current Line Manager and Head of Department. Please therefore ensure you have completed the ‘Police Staff Internal Secondment Declaration’, and forwarded it as instructed to obtain their sign‑off. This step must be completed so the form is submitted as part of the application process, prior to the vacancy’s closing date. Your declaration form should be uploaded alongside your application form. Please note that completion of this declaration is required whether or not your application is supported. Lack of managerial support will not prohibit you from applying, but it may have implications on your employee status. As a result you should consider this fully. Such applications will be treated on a case‑by‑case basis and following consultation with the Head of HR & OD, as per the Secondment guidance.

About the Role

Your role will be to provide effective, professional and confidential support to the Head of Command and Department Leads on performance delivery. Work with the Senior Leadership Team, undertaking consultation, research and developing policy enabling the Command to develop and deliver an excellent service.

Essential Qualifications

Educated to QCF Level 6 OR work experience deemed to have brought the post-holder to a comparable level.

  • Proven leadership capability; ability to deliver results whilst inspiring others.
  • Excellent organisational and planning skills.
  • Proven experience in a management role working closely with senior management.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, producing strategic level work and the ability to persuade and influence to achieve results, developing effective working relationships and partnerships including with senior people from a wide range of commands and external organisations.
  • Excellent organisational, analytical and decision‑making skills
  • Excellent ICT skills, particularly in the use of Microsoft Office products, including Excel and PowerPoint with ability to work in a modern forward‑thinking digital environment
