CNC Turning Team Leader
Salary: Up to £42,500
Day Shift | Four-Day Working Week (Mon-Thurs)
This company does things well, not cheaply. Investing heavily in people and equipment.
Complex, precision-critical components for industries where quality can't slip.
You're solving problems and improving processes, not churning out the same parts endlessly.
If you're after a role where you can actually lead properly, develop your skills, and work on high-spec components instead of firefighting every day, read on.
The Four-Day Week Is Real
Monday to Thursday. Long weekends, better work-life balance. It's not a gimmick. They run it because people do their best work when they're rested and focused, not stretched thin.
Structured training that builds technical and leadership capability. Plenty of operators and setters have moved into senior roles, programming, and supervisory positions.
Every year they review what needs upgrading or replacing. When a machine's no longer delivering the accuracy or efficiency required, they don't patch it up. They budget for modern replacements and process improvements.
They're employee-first. Consistent support, realistic expectations, genuine communication, and a culture where people stay because they feel valued.
Easily commutable from Bedford, Cambridge, St Neots and surrounding areas.
You'll lead the turning cell day-to-day. The go-to person when a job needs setting up correctly, when an operator needs guidance, or when something doesn't look right. You'll make sure the right things happen at the right time and that people have what they need to do good work.
You'll work closely with planning, engineering, and quality because that's how targets get met without cutting corners. Set-ups, prove-outs, process checks done properly. Spot where training is needed and support improvements that make the cell more efficient.
Strong CNC turning background with solid understanding of measurement systems, SPC principles, and quality processes. You can interpret drawings, spot issues, and resolve them calmly.
You don't need Team Leader on your CV already, but you do need the kind of presence people naturally listen to. Someone who can coach without lecturing, make clear decisions, and keep things steady. CNC programming experience and any prior leadership responsibilities are beneficial.
