CNC Shift Lead
Barnsley

Monday - Thursday 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM, Friday 6:00 AM - 2:00 PM (40 hours per week, negotiable with some crossover expected with 2nd shift)

Responsibilities
  • Act as the technical authority for your shift
  • Program, set, and operate various CNC machining centres (HURCO and FANUC)
  • Communicate the Production Plan and allocate work to team members
  • Drive performance to achieve production targets on time and to the correct standard
  • Lead and support the team in achieving high-quality standards and continuous improvement
  • Identify training needs and organise development with the Production Manager
  • Work with Engineering to identify manufacturing cost/time savings and support NPI projects
  • Liaise with the Operations Manager regarding machine breakdowns and repairs
  • Promote Lean techniques and Continuous Improvement initiatives
  • Conduct quality investigations and ensure company procedures are followed
Qualifications
  • Time-served apprentice with broad engineering experience and basic IT skills
  • Minimum 10 years' CNC programming experience and 3 years' supervisory experience
  • Skilled in medium to high volume batch work
  • Fully competent with HURCO and FANUC controls
  • Experienced in using inspection equipment to verify quality
  • Proactive, motivational, and leads by example
  • Strong communication skills; confident to challenge and improve processes
  • Experience with robots/automation desirable
