CNC Programmer / Setter / Operator

Location: Chelmsley Wood

Salary: £18.00 - £20.00 per hour

Hours: Full-time, 6am‑2pm or 7am‑3pm, with an early finish on Fridays

Holidays: 22 days + 8 bank holidays

We are seeking an experienced CNC Programmer/Setter/Operator to join a growing precision engineering team in Chelmsley Wood. This role is ideal for a multi‑skilled machinist with strong programming knowledge and hands‑on machining capability across complex, high‑precision components.

Key Responsibilities
  • Programming, setting, and operating CNC milling machines using Heidenhain and Fanuc controls.
  • Creating, editing, and optimising programs using Fusion 360.
  • Machining mild steel with some aluminium, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and high‑quality surface finishes.
  • Managing coolant systems and tool life to maximise machining efficiency.
  • Producing components on 3+1 axis and 3+2 axis machinery.
  • Conducting first‑off inspections and ensuring all parts meet required tolerances.
  • Maintaining an organised, safe, and efficient work area.
Requirements
  • Proven experience as a CNC Programmer/Setter/Operator in a precision engineering setting.
  • Strong knowledge of Heidenhain and Fanuc controls.
  • Confident using Fusion 360 for programming.
  • Experience working with mild steel and aluminium.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings accurately.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem‑solving skills.
