About the Role

Product Engineering at JLR is centred on innovation and creativity. From advanced driver assistance systems to developing the future of electric propulsion, the opportunities to create exceptional experiences for the future of motoring are wide‑rangeing. You'll work alongside industry experts to drive product strategy, manage programs, analyse performance, and lead transformation initiatives. Exceptional careers that bring world‑renowned vehicles to life start here. In this role, you'll take ownership of designing, building, and operating cloud‑native services at scale. You'll deliver high‑performance backend systems in Kotlin/Java (Spring Boot), containerise and orchestrate them using Kubernetes, automate infrastructure with Terraform, and develop robust GitLab CI/CD pipelines. Working across AWS and Tencent Cloud, you'll make smart architectural decisions that balance reliability, cost, security, and speed. This is a hands‑on engineering role where your expertise will directly shape the future of JLR's advanced data and cloud platforms.

Responsibilities
  • Design and implement distributed, event‑driven microservices using Kotlin or Java (Spring Boot)
  • Build and define cloud architectures across AWS and Tencent Cloud, covering compute, storage, networking, and managed services
  • Develop and maintain GitLab CI/CD pipelines to automate builds, testing, security checks, containerisation, and deployment
  • Create robust, reusable Terraform modules to provision and manage Tencent Cloud infrastructure
  • Manage and optimise Kubernetes clusters, including autoscaling, resource allocation, security policies, and network configuration
  • Deliver end‑to‑end observability solutions with OpenTelemetry, log aggregation, distributed tracing, and actionable monitoring alerts
Qualifications
  • Proven professional software engineering background, with experience delivering reliable, production‑ready systems
  • Expertise in designing and implementing distributed, event‑driven microservices using Kotlin or Java (Spring Boot)
  • Deep knowledge of AWS Cloud services and best practices, including EKS, EC2, IAM, VPC, Subnets, KMS, and CloudWatch
  • Hands‑on production experience with Kubernetes, covering orchestration, Helm/Kustomize, and rollout strategies
  • Strong Terraform skills, including module design, remote state management, and pipeline integration
  • Track record of building and maintaining robust GitLab CI/CD pipelines, with multi‑stage builds, caching, and security scanning
Benefits
  • Discounted car purchase (open to family members, too)
  • A 52 week maternity leave policy and a 4 week paternity leave policy. Other parental leave policies are available
  • A competitive pension
  • A JLR company performance‑related bonus
  • An employee learning scheme providing funding for education, training and other activities which support the development of personal skills and promote lifelong learning
  • Access to open, employee‑led support and social networks
  • Comprehensive Life Assurance and Income Protection policies
  • Flexible working
  • Flexible working is offered for specific roles dependent on responsibilities. Please speak to the hiring team for details

Creating Modern Luxury requires a modern approach to work. At JLR, hybrid working is a voluntary, non‑contractual arrangement providing employees more choice and flexibility around how, when and where they work. Some roles require more on‑site work, but details of this can be discussed with the hiring manager during the interview stage.

We work hard to nurture a culture that is inclusive and welcoming to all. We understand candidates may require reasonable adjustments during the recruitment process. Please discuss these with your recruiter so we can accommodate your needs.
