We have an exciting new opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated Occupational Therapist to join our innovative and forward thinking team of Allied Health Professionals at Clatterbridge Cancer Centre.

We are seeking an experienced Occupational Therapist who is passionate about delivering high quality patient care, and who demonstrates our Trust values of being: Kind, Empowered, Inclusive and Responsible.

You will be responsible for the delivery of highly specialist Occupational Therapy interventions for both inpatients and outpatients at Clatterbridge Cancer Centre. You will be part of our fantastic OT team, consisting of 2.5 Band 7s, 2.5 Band 6s, plus Therapy Assistants who work across our OT and Physiotherapy.

As a Clinical Specialist, you will have a lead role in the clinical leadership and support of the Occupational Therapy team. In conjunction with the Occupational Therapy Team Lead, you will facilitate the continued provision of a high quality, patient centred service, adhering to evidence based practice.

Main duties of the job

To provide highly specialised Occupational Therapy Service to a specialist caseload of Oncology patients, both inpatients and outpatients.

To manage a complex caseload within a specialist cancer inpatient service including using advances clinical reasoning, critical thinking, reflection and analysis to provide assessments and treatments in a holistic and client centred way.

To be responsible for the planning, delivery and evaluation of the Occupational Therapy clinical services and protocols within the field of Oncology.

To be responsible for the clinical leadership and support of a team of Occupational Therapists and Therapy Assistants through offering advice, guidance and clinical supervision as appropriate.

To support Occupational Therapy students on practice placements.

To support the Occupational Therapy Team Leader to develop the Occupational Therapy service as part of the Allied Health Professions within the Trust.

In conjunction with the Occupational Therapy Team Leader monitor the Occupational Therapy service through audit and research opportunities.

To develop effective working relationships with the multidisciplinary teams to provide high standards of care.

To provide highly specialist and expert knowledge, education, advice and support to fellow healthcare professionals within the multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

  • Specialist knowledge of working with patients with physical health conditions and the interplay of disease process and functional well being
  • Specialist knowledge, understanding and application of Occupational Therapy process within physical health

  • Ability to work autonomously
