We’re looking for a Clinical Safety Officer to join our team based in London.

This is an exciting time to join HCA Healthcare Ltd as digital transformation is leading our way forward and our priority to ensure we deliver an exceptional and safe service to our patients. The role works alongside our Digital Clinical Leads who work across our facilities to support our stakeholders, digital change and drive new opportunities in an ever‑changing digital world.

As a Clinical Safety Officer, you’ll be the trusted guardian of patient safety in a rapidly evolving digital landscape. You’ll lead the creation of clinical risk management plans, set the standard for safe technology adoption, and ensure every system meets the highest safety benchmarks. Your influence will span investigations, policy development and strategic input on cutting‑edge digital solutions. Collaborating with product owners and informatics leaders, you will drive transformation and innovation – whilst keeping safety at the heart of everything we do.

Why this role is unique:
  • Drive Continued Safety Excellence – Following our major Expanse EHR implementation, you'll lead safety governance and directly influence how 10,000+ colleagues deliver safer care through technology.
  • Fast-Track Your Career – Work directly with our CCIO and executive leadership team, gaining strategic experience that spans frontline clinical practice to board‑level decisions.
  • Grow with Full Professional Support – Build on your DCB0129/0160 expertise with access to national safety forums and opportunities to publish your work, shaping both our safety culture and wider healthcare standards.

Above all else, we’re committed to the care and improvement of human life. It’s this guiding vision that influences everything we do at HCA UK. From the CEO to the colleagues on the floor we all have a part to play in delivering exceptional care to our patients. Others may think this is just a role in an IT team, but to us, you’ll be part of a wider team with a unique sense of purpose, one that helps improve lives on a daily basis.

What you’ll do:
  • Reporting and Assurance – ensure all digital health applications and IT systems developed, procured or deployed by HCA comply with the required regulations DCB0129 and DCB0160.
  • Patient Safety – ensure that clinical patient safety remains the priority throughout any digital transformation change programmes and that all staff enhance patient safety during such times, not compromise it.
  • Risk and Issues Management – be responsible for maintaining robust processes that identify any potential patient safety risks.
  • Stakeholder Management – build strong, strategic relationships to ensure programme priorities are clearly understood and aligned with clinicians and patients, without compromising safety.
What you’ll bring:
  • A current registration with GMC, NMC or equivalent recognised professional body for AHP.
  • Formal training in Clinical Risk Management aligned to NHS Standards.
  • Completion of NHS England Digital Clinical Safety training or equivalent CPD accredited courses covering: CSO Practitioner Training, Hazard Identification and Risk Mitigation, Clinical Safety Case Reports and Hazard logs, Compliance with DTAC.
  • Extensive experience as a Registered Healthcare Professional.
  • Hands on experience in Digital Health Systems – implementation, deployment or transformation.
  • Proven ability to apply DCB0129 and DCB0160 standards.
  • Proven ability to develop strong stakeholder management relationships and implement change.
