Overview

Clinical Psychologist – Band 8a (0.6 WTE). (We will consider applications from those who are newly qualified and would like to come in on a preceptorship)

Role Summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a clinical psychologist to work our Older Adult Functional Mental Health Team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide specialist psychological assessments and specialist individual and group psychological interventions.
  • Offer Team Formulations, supervision for Team colleagues and junior psychology colleagues and be involved in the provision of psychological skills training.
  • Support with audits, research and service developments.
  • Carry out psychological assessments, deliver specialist psychological interventions and provide supervision to junior members of Psychology Staff including Assistant Psychologists, Mental Health & Well-being Practitioners and Trainee Clinical Psychologists.
  • Provide supervision and consultation to MDT colleagues, attend MDT meetings and offer Team Formulations.
  • Work alongside colleagues from other agencies including Care Homes, Primary Care, Social Care, Physical Health, Voluntary Sector partners and the wider secondary mental health services.
  • Access to supervision from a Principal Clinical Psychologist and line management from a senior nursing colleague. Offered training and CPD opportunities within the mental health trust.
  • Support the systematic provision of specialist Secondary Care Psychological interventions for older adult patients.
  • Provide highly specialist psychological assessment, formulation and therapy, and to provide a “Trusted Assessment” role in the service if required.
  • Hold a clinical case load of more complex cases that may involve more integrated multi-agency working.
  • Provide clinical supervision to junior members of the Psychology Team including Mental Health Wellbeing Practitioners, Clinical Associate Psychologists, Trainee Clinical Psychologists, Trainee CBT Therapists, in order to ensure that they safely carry out their clinical work.
  • Supervise and support the work provided by other clinicians involved with these services, working autonomously within professional guidelines, exercising full clinical responsibility, and implementing changes where necessary.
  • Work co-operatively with multidisciplinary colleagues to achieve service outcomes and targets.
