Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen to work as part of the UCLH Theatre and Anaesthesia team as a Clinical Practice Facilitator for Scrub.

Responsibilities
  • Monitor the development, implementation, and evaluation of learning and development programmes for scrub staff and the rest of the theatre staff group.
  • Facilitate clinical supervision programmes and act as a facilitator/mentor/preceptor to learners in scrub as needed.
  • Demonstrate leadership skills and experience in the management of the department and provide a high level of specialist clinical leadership.
  • Support the training and development programme initiated by the Division to ensure staff members achieve their full potential.
  • Maximise use of clinical and academic resources, implementing best practice in assessment and supervision of learners in the clinical setting.
  • Ensure e‑rota and electronic patient records are implemented and used to their full potential.
  • Maintain a visible presence in the department, undertaking clinical work as required.
Qualifications
  • Good knowledge and experience in peri‑operative practice and an excellent understanding of peri‑anaesthesia care.
  • Operating Department Practitioner registered with the Health Professions Council (HCPC) OR a NMC registered Nurse with appropriate experience in scrub.
  • Effective functioning as part of the Theatres Education Team providing peri‑operative learning and development support to staff and students.
  • Organised, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and experience of supervising a multi‑disciplinary team to provide the highest standard of patient care and learner supervision across a varied caseload.
  • Motivated and enthusiastic, able to work well under pressure and flexibly as part of a multi‑disciplinary team, ensuring a welcoming, caring and safe environment, and promoting, maintaining and monitoring standards in accordance with the guidelines of the NMC/HCPC and CQC.
  • Registration with the HCPC as an ODP or a NMC registered Nurse.
  • Eligibility to work in the UK.
  • Extensive experience as a scrub practitioner.
  • A recognised qualification and experience of supporting learners in the peri‑operative environment.
  • Demonstrates a good working knowledge and compliance with CQC Standards.
