Job summary

An exciting short‑term opportunity for a highly Specialist Nurse to join our Colorectal team at the Community Diagnostic Centre, Hollinswood House. This fixed‑term role covers maternity leave and offers the chance to make a real difference in patient care while developing your own skills in a fast‑paced, supportive environment.

Responsibilities
  • Provide specialist nursing service to patients on the 62‑day suspected colorectal cancer pathway, supporting timely diagnosis and treatment in line with national standards.
  • Act as an autonomous practitioner, proactively managing a caseload of patients, providing expert advice and advocating across care settings and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Support new ways of working and ensure the patient journey is smooth and effective.
  • Lead nurse‑led clinics within the urgent cancer pathway, organising investigations and interventions as required.
  • Maintain professionalism within the NMC code and adhere to local and national HR policies and procedures.
Qualifications
Essential
  • Sufficient post‑registration experience to prepare for this post.
  • 1st Level Nursing Degree (working towards) or RGN.
  • Evidence of academic education and continuing CPD.
  • Experience in a multi‑professional setting, liaison with primary healthcare providers and audit involvement.
Desirable
  • Working towards specialty related MSc.
  • History taking and physical examination course.
  • Independent nurse prescribing course.
  • Experience running nurse‑led clinics.
  • Knowledge of statistics/report writing.
