Job summary

A leading facilities management company is seeking a Fulltime Cleaning Operative to provide comprehensive cleaning services at the UK's first all-electric immigration removal centre. The role involves maintaining high cleanliness standards, operating safely, and working around residents in a detention setting. Previous cleaning experience is advantageous. This position offers a full-time commitment with 35 hours per week.

Responsibilities

• Provide a comprehensive cleaning service in designated areas per the cleaning schedule.
• Clean all areas, including toilets, showers, and fixtures, to maintain cleanliness standards.
• Operate safely and comply with COSHH regulations and Mitie standards.
• Maintain cleaning equipment to ensure it is serviceable and ready for use.
• Securely use, handle, transport, and store equipment and materials.
• Identify and report any areas needing repair or maintenance.
• Notify staff of stock levels to maintain availability of cleaning materials.
• Work within a detention setting.
• Occasionally clean bodily fluids (blood, urine, and faeces).

Campsfield Immigration Removal Centre is the UK's first all-electric immigration removal centre, managed on behalf of the Home Office by Mitie Care & Custody. We are seeking a proactive and experienced manager to lead on monitoring, assurance, and improvement activities, ensuring the Centre consistently delivers to the highest standards while embedding social value at the heart of our operations.

Job objectives and responsibilities

• To provide a comprehensive cleaning service in designated areas to meet the standards identified in the cleaning schedule.
• Working in the centre around Residents

Main duties

• Clean all areas, including toilets, showers and fixtures and fittings, as required, at the Centre so that cleanliness standards and a hygienic environment are maintained.
• Operate in a safe manner ensuring compliance with COSHH regulations and Mitie standards.
• Maintain cleaning equipment so that it remains serviceable and ready to use, ensuring no time delay in achieving required standards.
• Use, handle, transport and store equipment and materials securely and correctly at all times to ensure a safe and secure environment.
• Identify and report any areas requiring repair or maintenance so that corrective action can be taken.
• Notify relevant staff of stock levels to maintain the availability of cleaning materials.
• Working within a Detention setting.
• On occasion, clean body fluids (blood, urine and faeces).

Person Specification
