Cleaning Operative

Location: HMP Lewes

Salary: £25,566.64

Contract: 39 hours a week, Full Time, permanent

Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Cleaning Operative to join the Facilities Maintenance Team at HMP Lewes, a Category B male prison. The role works Monday to Friday, collaborating with a team that includes plumbers, electricians, carpenters, painters and administrators to create a safe, secure and nurturing environment for prisoners, staff and visitors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work alongside experienced colleagues in various trades to maintain a safe and secure environment for prisoners, staff and visitors.
  • Apply cleaning procedures to maintain cleanliness and health standards across the facility.
  • Adhere to COSHH, health and safety regulations and relevant operational policies.
  • Use organisational and time‑management skills to effectively carry out daily duties.
Qualifications
  • Experience of working within a cleaning environment.
  • Knowledge of COSHH.
  • Knowledge of relevant health and safety requirements.
  • Excellent organisational, time management and people skills.
