A leading construction and engineering company in the UK is seeking motivated individuals for the role of Technician Engineer. This apprenticeship will progress you from Engineering Technician to Site Engineer, where you will work on major construction projects. Applicants must have strong numeracy and literacy skills, be flexible, and eligible to work in the UK. The program is set to commence in September 2026, offering a structured pathway into engineering and construction disciplines.

The Technician Engineer and Site Engineer are part of the Engineering Job Family and Technical Function, which is there to ensure technical excellence, assurance and performance across all projects and opportunities from pre-project, early engagement and work winning through to detailed delivery. All of our engineers are part of our Engineering Enterprise and are aligned with our overall strategy to maximise DfMA, Digital Engineering, and Early Engagement.
A Professional Apprenticeship Technician Engineer will progress through the role of Engineering Technician into Site Engineer over the period of the programme. You will work within the site engineering team under the guidance of Site and Section Engineers, alongside site supervisors and managers. You will safely and effectively manage a set of tasks and are technically responsible for their outcome and report directly to the Site/Section Engineer. You will also work predominantly on site assisting in the technical management and delivery of major construction projects.
Follows safe working practices including wearing personal protective equipment and demonstrating a duty of care to yourself and others
As a project‑led business, the location of our work can vary depending on project needs. This role may require you to be prepared to work away from home at project sites across the UK.
Level 4, apprenticeship Civil engineering senior technician / Skills England
Laing O'Rourke collaborates with trusted and approved training providers, usually a university, to deliver our apprenticeship programmes. The allocation of a training provider will be based on academic grades achieved.
You would then typically progress to a level 6 apprenticeship, with a typical duration of 5‑6 years.
