Overview

The salary for this role is £12.40 per hour. The festive season at Boots is a key time of year, and this Christmas Customer Assistant role involves greeting customers, offering product and gift advice, and creating a memorable shopping experience that encourages return visits.

This is a temporary contract, with potential for a permanent role later depending on local opportunities. It could be the start of a new career with us.

About the role

You will work in a Boots store and report to the Assistant or Store Manager. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Customer Interaction: offer thoughtful advice, recommend products, and highlight offers to ensure a positive shopping experience.
  • Till Operation: wrap up purchases at the counter or support self-checkout, delivering energy and efficiency in every transaction.
  • Stock Management: keep shelves full so customers can find what they need during peak season.
  • Store Presentation: ensure the store areas look their best.
  • Online order support: assist with deliveries, picking, and packing for online orders as needed.
What you’ll need to have

Full training is provided, but these are the essential skills or experience needed:

  • Available to work Bank Holidays including Black Friday week and weekend, Cyber Monday, Christmas Eve, Boxing Day, New Year’s Day.
  • Customer Service Skills: comfortable approaching customers and providing a personalised experience.
  • Operations Ready: able to balance customer care with daily shopfloor and operational tasks.
  • Tech-Savvy: able to learn and use new technology, including handheld devices, tills and self-checkouts.
  • Team Player: collaborative, one-team mindset to meet store goals and enjoy the process.
  • Physical Stamina: on your feet, standing, walking, and lifting.
  • Brand Ambassador: enthusiasm for Boots ethos, products and services.

Desirable experience

  • Experience in a retail or customer-facing environment.
  • Familiar with Boots products and services to help customers.
