Job summary

Job description

We're looking for an experienced and reliable Children's Home Care Worker to join a private organisation that provides residential care for children and young people with complex needs, including those with forensic backgrounds and a history of trauma or challenging behaviour.

This is a demanding but highly rewarding role, working within a small team to create a safe, stable and supportive environment for young people aged 8 to 18.

Key responsibilities
  • Supporting young people with day-to-day care, emotional wellbeing, routines, and behavioural needs
  • Building positive, professional relationships and offering consistent, trauma-informed support
  • Promoting independence, safeguarding, and emotional development through structured care plans
  • Supporting young people with education, appointments, and daily living tasks
  • Working closely with colleagues, social workers, education providers and external agencies
  • Keeping accurate records and contributing to multi-agency reviews and risk assessments
  • Working shifts that include sleep-ins and waking nights, following a rolling 2 on / 4 off pattern
What we're looking for
  • Experience working with children or young people in residential care, youth justice, or forensic services
  • Confident working with challenging behaviour and complex emotional needs
  • A calm, resilient and professional approach
  • Good understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures
  • Flexible and reliable with a strong team ethic
  • NVQ Level 3 in Children and Young People (or working towards it) is desirable, but not essential
