Job Overview

Care Home Chef - Part-time - 24 Hours

Location: Millfield Nursing Home

Salary: £13.79 per hour

Introduction to the role: A talented Chef can bring to life ingredients that evoke memories and warmth for residents. Orchard Care Homes values its kitchen staff and provides training, support, and the freedom to cook with passion. This is a vital role in all our homes.

Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare and cook a variety of nutritious meals that cater to individual preferences, requests, and dietary requirements. Follow Orchard Care Homes’ Good Food Guide and obtain authorisation from the Support Centre for amendments.
• Lead and support the kitchen team, providing guidance to ensure a friendly, collaborative working environment.
• Understand and comply with statutory and legal requirements, including HACCP, Health & Safety, COSHH, Environmental Health, and the Care Standards Act. Maintain Infection Prevention and Control practices to ensure a safe kitchen and home.
• Implement, monitor and maintain cleaning schedules in line with the Food Safety Manual and ensure kitchens and related areas are kept clean and orderly.
• Manage food stocks: order, receive from approved suppliers, and rotate stock to maintain freshness and quality.
