Overview

Opportunity at QA Hospital in Portsmouth. We are seeking an enthusiastic catering porter to join our catering team, responsible for maintaining a clean and safe environment and supporting food distribution.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of the catering store, patient food distribution area, and kitchen equipment.
  • Assist with simple food preparation and basic food preparation as required.
  • Deliver food or provisions to multiple hospital sites and patient locations.
  • Operate catering equipment: scrubbing machine, floor mopping equipment, manual lifting equipment, steam cleaner, and dishwashing machine.
  • Complete required paperwork: store request forms, timesheets, holiday sheets, sickness notes, and fault reporting.
  • Carry out environmental cleaning tasks and follow SOPs and department procedures.
  • Provide relief cover for breaks, annual leave, sickness, and support other catering areas.
  • Swiping and logging in at the start and finish of shifts; organise day‑to‑day tasks.
Qualifications
  • Friendly, calm disposition, effective communication skills, and flexibility.
  • 3 years of employment and/or professional references as required by trust guidelines.
  • No essential qualifications required; experience in catering is desirable but not essential.

  • 37.5 hours a week on a 6‑week rota across multiple shifts.
