Job description

St Clements High School are seeking a Catering Assistant to join and compliment the friendly and dedicated Catering Team within our School.

Start Date: To be Arranged
Hours: 12.5 hours/week 38 weeks/year (term time)
Salary: Scale A, Pt 2 £12.65/hour – Approx. £6,882pa (£24,413 based on FTE 37 hour week). Please note salary will be pro rata.

Purpose of the Job

To participate in the catering provision as agreed with the Catering Manager working alongside a friendly team of Catering Assistants to deliver fresh and nutritious school meals using high quality ingredients.

NB This may include the handling of all foods within the catering section and the preparation of dishes/food items for service.

Responsibilities

• To participate in the production of food items in line with the day’s menu, or with batch baking where appropriate.
• To participate in the care and the cleaning of the kitchen areas, dining room and equipment as required.
• To serve meals, and to give attention to tables if necessary.
• To talk to the pupils, staff & visitors as appropriate – in order to guide their choice of menu items and increase awareness of foods.
• To assist with the maintenance of quality standards within the catering department.

Qualifications and Checks

• The post is likely to come under the requirements of the Childcare (Disqualifications) 2009 Regulations and a declaration form will be required to establish whether the applicant is disqualified under these regulations.
• The post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act; an enhanced DBS check (or with barred list) will be required. If you have information to declare it may be protected under the Exceptions Orders and you may not be required to declare it. You will be asked to make a criminal conviction declaration if shortlisted.
