Finning (UK) Ltd, a leading Caterpillar dealer, seeks a Field Service Engineer to diagnose and repair plant equipment at customer sites across the UK. You will provide on-site assessments, safety-compliant repairs, and detailed quotes.

The role requires customer focus, hands-on knowledge of heavy earthmoving machines, and the ability to work autonomously while coordinating with branches and customers. Benefits include pension, healthcare, and training opportunities.

Qualifications

• Apprentice trained or formally trained engineer with NVQ Level 3 preferred.
• Experience as field service engineer or development opportunity for apprentice.
• Knowledge of field-based diagnosis tools and heavy earthmoving equipment.

Responsibilities

• Provide arrival time estimates for service requests based on location and machine.
• Register arrival on site and follow customer procedures.
• Diagnose likely causes with operators to prepare work.
• Provide detailed information to enable quotes for customers.
• Identify required parts and coordinate delivery for service visits.
• Carry out repair and service work per plan and reinstall components.
