Job summary

Finning International Inc. is seeking a field service engineer to diagnose and repair Caterpillar equipment at customer sites, providing detailed information to create quotes and improve service delivery. You will work with customers, branch teams and suppliers to resolve issues safely and efficiently.

The role requires hands-on experience with heavy machinery, strong diagnostic capability, and the ability to plan and execute repairs on time while maintaining high safety standards.

Qualifications

• Apprentice trained / Formally trained Engineer (NVQ Level 3 preferred in Land Based Engineering / Plant Fitting)
• Excellent communication & interpersonal skills
• Strong planning and organisational skills under pressure
• Experience as field service engineer on construction/industrial equipment
• Knowledge of field-based diagnosis tools and equipment essential
• Heavy Earth Moving equipment operating knowledge
• Must hold LDV driving licence

Responsibilities

• Provide estimated arrival time at customer site based on job instructions
• Register arrival with site management and ensure adherence to procedures
• Diagnose probable causes of equipment problems and provide detailed information for quoting
• Identify required parts and coordinate delivery times for service visits
• Undertake repair and service work to the plan, reinstalling components as needed
• Maintain strong communication with customers and colleagues throughout service
• Operate autonomously and as part of a team to meet timely objectives
• Demonstrate problem-solving and analytical skills in the field
• Support wellbeing and adhere to safety and company policies
• Maintain product training and knowledge of CAT equipment
