Job summary

Finning (UK) Ltd. is seeking a Field Service Engineer to respond to customer site service requests, diagnose issues, and provide detailed information to produce quotes, ensuring safe and cost-effective repairs for Caterpillar equipment.

You will work in Finning’s field service team covering West Midlands and surrounding areas, with a focus on customer service, on-site attendance, and timely problem solving using dealer software and diagnostic tools.

Qualifications

Apprentice trained / Formally trained Engineer (NVQ Level 3 preferred in Land Based Engineering / Plant Fitting)
Knowledge in the use of field-based diagnosis tools and equipment essential
Heavy Earth Moving equipment operating knowledge
LDV driving licence
Experience of a variety of construction and static machines essential

Responsibilities

Provide arrival time estimates at customer sites based on job instructions and location details.
Register arrival with site management and respect site procedures.
Diagnose likely causes of equipment problems in discussion with customer operators.
Provide comprehensive details to enable Finning to construct a quote.
Identify required parts and arrange delivery times for service visits.
Carry out repair and service work to the plan and reinstall components as needed
