About the Role

As a Streetscene Operative, you’ll be at the heart of our frontline services, helping to maintain the cleanliness and appearance of public spaces across the New Forest. Whether working solo or as part of a team, you’ll carry out a wide range of tasks including:

  • Litter picking and fly‑tip removal
  • Graffiti cleaning and bin maintenance
  • Emergency response duties such as snow clearance
  • Supporting void property clearances and other reactive works

You’ll be a visible ambassador for the Council, often the first point of contact for residents and visitors, so a friendly and professional approach is essential.

What We’re Looking For

Essential:

  • A valid UK driving licence (manual, minimum 3.5 Ton vehicle)
  • Good physical fitness and stamina
  • Able to work effectively as part of a team or independently
  • Customer service skills
  • Willingness to undertake training (Manual Handling, First Aid, LANTRA Road Safety)

Desirable:

  • Experience in a similar role
  • Familiarity with relevant machinery and safe working practices
  • Understanding of COSHH and waste disposal regulations
Working Conditions

You will be working from our Lymington depot. As a casual worker your working days will vary based on operational priorities, staff sickness and holiday absence.

This is an outdoor role in all weather conditions, involving repeated manual handling. Full PPE and training are provided to ensure your safety.
