Job summary

A healthcare practice is seeking a Medical Receptionist/Care Navigator who will assist the practice team and engage with patients. The ideal candidate should have experience in customer service and a background in GP reception. Responsibilities include managing appointments, processing all types of requests, and supporting clinical staff. Training is provided, and the environment emphasizes patient care and teamwork. This is a part-time, permanent position based in Sunderland.

Qualifications

  • Experience of customer service.
  • Practical experience of computerised recording systems.
  • Good standard of education (Standard Grade Mathematics or equivalent, Standard Grade English or equivalent).
  • Experience of using own initiative.
  • Experience of working within a GP reception environment.

Responsibilities

  • Maintaining and monitoring the practice appointments system.
  • Processing requests for appointments, visits and telephone consultations.
  • Processing and distributing incoming and outgoing mail.
  • Taking messages and passing on information.
  • Filing and retrieving paperwork.
  • Processing repeat prescriptions.
  • Computer data entry and processing information.
  • Initiating contact with and responding to requests from patients.
  • Providing clerical assistance to practice staff.
  • Ordering and monitoring of stationery and other supplies.
