Job summary

A care home provider in Greater London is seeking a passionate Chef with experience in Afro-Caribbean cuisine. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning and serving nutritious meals, ensuring compliance with hygiene standards, and managing kitchen operations. Ideal applicants should have previous Chef experience in a care home setting and possess a strong understanding of dietary needs. This position offers 30 hours per week, with shifts from 8 AM to 1 PM, including alternate weekends.

  • Experience in menu planning is a plus.

Role Responsibilities
  • Plan, prepare, and serve balanced meals with a focus on Afro‑Caribbean dishes.
  • Adapt menus to meet dietary requirements, allergies, and individual care plans.
  • Ensure compliance with food hygiene, safety, and CQC standards.
  • Collaborate with care staff to support person‑centred dining experiences.
  • Manage stock control, ordering, and kitchen budgets efficiently.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming kitchen environment.
  • Engage residents in food‑related activities (e.g., tasting sessions, cultural food days).
Candidate Requirements
  • Right to live and work in UK
  • Experience as a Chef, ideally within a care home or healthcare setting.
  • Knowledge of Afro‑Caribbean cooking techniques, ingredients, and traditions.
  • Understanding of nutrition, portion control, and special dietary needs.
  • Food Hygiene Certificate (Level 2 or above) or ready to pursue it.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills.
  • Passion for delivering high-quality meals that celebrate cultural diversity.
Desirable Skills
  • Experience in menu planning.
  • Knowledge of allergen management and Food Safety.
  • Creativity in presenting meals to encourage resident appetite and enjoyment.
