Full job description

Personal Assistant for a person with physical & mental health needs.

Part time - set 30 hours/week - £15.60/hr. Additional hours may occasionally be required to cover holiday.

We are a small team that provide high-quality support for an individual with physical and mental learning disabilities, enabling her to live safely, comfortably, and with dignity in her own home. Support focuses on:

  • Personal care
  • Health and medical needs
  • Daily living activities, including personal care, cooking, social activities, providing engaging activities at home.
  • Ensure the home environment is clean, safe, and comfortable.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Follow individual care plans, risk assessments, and health protocols.
  • Assist with personal hygiene, and dressing.
  • Support with medication.
  • Promote independence and choice wherever possible.
  • Encourage individual to engage in preferred activities and community outings.
  • Record health information, behaviour patterns and report concerns promptly to the Team Leader.

Behavioral & Emotional Support:

  • Provide reassurance and calming strategies when the person experiences anxiety or distress.
  • Recognise behavioural cues and respond appropriately using positive behaviour support techniques.
  • Encourage engagement in preferred activities.

Communication & Engagement:

  • Use knowledge of clients verbal communication and behavioural cues to meet her needs.
  • Support social inclusion and community access, while managing risks and triggers.
  • Promote dignity, respect, and choice at all times.

Safeguarding & Legal Compliance:

  • Work in line with the Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act 2005, and Equality Act 2010.
  • Safeguard the individual from harm, abuse, or neglect.
  • Maintain confidentiality.

Record Keeping:

  • Maintain accurate daily notes, medication records, and incident reports.
  • Ensure risk assessments and care plans are followed and updated as directed.
