Founded in 1875, our long history has been built on innovation, craftsmanship and above all, incredible talent. Born from the adventurous spirit of our founder, Arthur Lasenby Liberty, we remain true to our heritage. From our fulfilment centres to our flagship store, passion, vision and dynamism are part of our DNA – and that extends to our team.

Job Purpose

We are seeking a Buyer, Home to join Liberty and shape a buying strategy that delivers sales and profit growth across all channels. You will curate a distinctive, commercial and press-worthy Home edit that reflects Liberty’s heritage and creativity, working closely with Merchandising, Customer Insight and Retail to ensure ranges resonate with our customer and maximise retail space.

Key Responsibilities
  • Define and deliver a compelling product and brand strategy in partnership with Merchandising, Retail, Customer Insight, Ecommerce and Marketing, ensuring a unique, commercial and press-worthy offer that meets sales and margin targets within agreed OTB.
  • Own supplier negotiations across cost, delivery, payment terms, RTVs, staffing contributions and marketing support to maximise profitability and minimise risk.
  • Plan and optimise floor layouts and brand adjacencies to drive sales density, margin growth and strong commercial performance.
  • Partner with Merchandising and Ecommerce to deliver the most profitable range online and in-store, maximising re‑orders and minimising markdowns.
  • Work closely with Retail, VM and Merchandising through floor walks and trade reviews to drive action on underperforming areas.
  • Lead seasonal briefings for VM and Retail, ensuring teams are fully informed and trained on new brands and product launches.
  • Build strong relationships with suppliers, press and influencers to strengthen Liberty’s market position and press presence.
  • Continuously research the market to source new brands and products that reinforce Liberty’s point of difference and relevance.
  • Lead, develop and succession‑plan the buying team, supporting progression and performance.
  • Represent Liberty at key trade fairs, fashion weeks and industry events, maintaining a strong personal and brand presence.
About You
  • Strong buying background with a minimum of 5 years’ experience within a fast paced multi-channel department store.
  • Deep understanding of global and local markets, categories and product, with a strong instinct for trends and when to step away.
  • Highly commercial and analytical, with strong attention to detail and the ability to interpret data, product feedback and market insight.
  • Confident leader with a proven ability to coach, develop and manage teams through periods of change.
  • Clear, credible communicator who works effectively across all functions.
  • Strong critical thinking, problem‑solving and project management skills.
  • Highly organised, able to self‑manage, multitask and perform in a fast‑paced, high‑pressure environment.
  • Solid knowledge of buying processes and best practice.
