Job summary

Leicestershire County Council’s Children and Family Services is seeking a well-organised Business Support Assistant to join a dedicated team providing administrative support. You will manage calls, emails, and visitor greeting, process data input, and maintain both manual and electronic admin systems.

The role requires GCSE/A Levels or equivalent, NVQ 2 in Business Administration, strong MS Word/Excel skills, and the ability to work accurately to deadlines while supporting colleagues in a hybrid

Qualifications

  • Must have basic admin qualifications (GCSE/A Levels or vocational quals) with NVQ 2 in Business Administration or equivalent.
  • Strong data entry and typing skills with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Proficient in MS Word and Excel; able to use spreadsheets and input data.
  • Good verbal and written communication; able to maintain confidentiality.

Responsibilities

  • Work as part of a team to provide administrative support in the service area.
  • Handle incoming/outgoing calls and emails; greet visitors and coordinate with teams.
  • Process data input across computer-based systems within the service area.
  • Perform general office duties (filing, etc.) and maintain manual/electronic admin systems.
  • Upload information to the in-house database accurately and timely.
  • Demonstrate flexibility to take on additional tasks and support colleagues.

Job description

An opportunity has arisen for a well-organised experienced and resilient individual to join the Children and Family Services as a Business Support Assistant to work as part of a team in the provision of administrative work within the support service area Main duties and responsibilities:

  • To work as part of a team in the provision of administrative work within the support service area.
  • To deal with incoming and outgoing telephone calls & emails, liaise with teams, across the service and to facilitate the greeting of visitors, all necessary to the efficient functioning of the Service.
  • To process administration processes of data inputting within the service areas
  • To undertake general office duties e.g. file management
  • To accurately enter data onto a range of computer-based systems to support the requirements of the service.
  • To upload information to our in-house database in an accurate and timely manner.
  • To be flexible on taking on additional tasks, willing to offer help to employees and treats co-operation and support for colleagues as a top priority.
  • Have recognised Academic Qualifications e.g. 'GCSE', 'A' Levels, Vocational Quals, Professional/Further Education Quals in relevant area. NVQ 2 in Business Administration or equivalent. Or an equivalent level of relevant experience.
  • Have good computer skills, including MS Word, Excel, with the ability to use spreadsheets.
  • Be able to give evidence of establishing and maintaining manual and electronic admin systems.
  • Be able to evidence a good level of verbal and written communication skills.
  • Be able to have a full understanding of the need to maintain confidentiality
  • Be able to produce accurate work to deadlines.
  • Be able to work effectively as a member of a team.
