Job description

We are working closely alongside with a local authority in Monmouthshire to assist with the appointment of a Business Support Assistant on a 5-month contract, highly likely to be extended at client discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay: £13.69- £17.41 per hour

Summary

Join Monmouthshire County Council's Children's Services as a Business Support Assistant - Admin & Clerical. This is a varied and vital role supporting social work teams with flexible and resilient administrative services. You will be instrumental in managing correspondence, maintaining records (both paper and electronic, including the PLANT database), handling finance tasks, and serving as the first point of contact for safeguarding referrals. A can-do attitude, excellent admin/IT skills, and flexibility are essential.

Responsibilities
  • Manage all incoming and outgoing correspondence (letters, emails, verbal communications) professionally and promptly.
  • Gather and copy information to respond to Data Protection Subject Access Requests (DSARs) and Police requests.
  • Create and accurately maintain all Children's records, including new safeguarding/child protection referrals, assessments, and reviews, adhering to strict statutory guidelines and deadlines.
  • Provide a professional service handling incoming safeguarding referral calls, accurately taking and recording contacts and messages.
  • Assist with training, supporting, and sharing knowledge (PLANT, systems, and processes) with new and existing colleagues.
  • Provide assistance to Social Work Teams with software or laptop issues when they are in the office.
