Job summary

J&T Business Consulting in Birmingham seeks a Building Surveyor to manage a diverse caseload of surveying instructions and oversee repair projects. You will conduct defect diagnosis surveys and prepare costed schedules of works, ensuring delivery to high technical standards.

Experience in insurance claims is valuable but not essential; private client work is growing. You will maintain professional ethics, communicate clearly with loss adjusters, insurers, policyholders and private clients, and

Qualifications

• Experience in surveying and insurance claims is desirable but not essential.
• Active progress toward professional qualification (MRICS/FRICS MCIOB) preferred.
• Strong knowledge of CDM regulations and JCT contracts.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to negotiate outcomes.
• Proficient with surveying software and case management tools.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality defect diagnoses and surveying instructions.
• Administer JCT contracts, variations, valuations, and milestones.
• Provide clear, proactive communication with clients and insurers.
• Share knowledge within the team and drive process improvements.
• Uphold TCF principles and RICS ethical standards; meet SLAs and KPIs.
