Job summary

J T in Birmingham is seeking an experienced Surveying professional to manage a diverse caseload of surveying instructions, conduct defect diagnosis surveys, and oversee costed schedules of works. You will ensure technical quality and timely delivery while working within JCT contracts and regulatory requirements.

Experience in insurance claims is valuable but not essential; private client surveying is welcomed.

Qualifications

• Excellent knowledge of surveying principles; insurance claims desirable but not required.
• MRICS/FRICS or MCIOB preferred, or working toward professional qualification.
• Strong understanding of CDM Regulations (Construction (Design and Management)).
• Hands-on experience with JCT contracts, variations, payment certifications, and dispute resolution mechanisms.
• Excellent written and oral communication with strong negotiation and report-writing skills.
• High IT literacy with surveying software and case management systems.

Responsibilities

• Technical Quality & Delivery: Demonstrate high technical quality, defect diagnosis, and rigorous service delivery across all assigned instructions.
• Contract Administration: Administer JCT contracts, including managing variations, valuation payments, liquidated damages, and key contractual milestones.
• Customer Service: Provide exceptional customer service, proactively communicating with loss adjusters, insurers, policyholders, and private clients.
• Team & Knowledge Sharing: Share technical knowledge, offer feedback, and contribute to process improvements.
• Ethics & Compliance: Promote Treating Customers Fairly (TCF) and RICS ethical standards.
• Service Standards: Ensure adherence to SLAs and KPIs.
