Role Snapshot:

In this role you will be responsible for managing financial records, processing payroll, and preparing VAT returns and self-assessments. You will work independently, ensuring accuracy and compliance while maintaining strong relationships with our clients. The ideal candidate will be from a small or medium-sized accountancy practice and have experience dealing directly with clients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform day-to-day bookkeeping tasks, including bank reconciliations, accounts payable/receivable, and financial record-keeping.
  • Process payroll efficiently and accurately.
  • Prepare and submit VAT returns and self-assessment tax returns.
  • Use Xero accounting software to manage client accounts.
  • Communicate with clients directly to resolve queries, provide financial insights, and ensure accuracy.
  • Prioritise workload effectively to meet deadlines and maintain efficiency.
  • Identify and address discrepancies, raising queries where necessary.
Key Requirements:
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in bookkeeping, payroll, and tax return preparation (VAT / Self-Assessment / Corporation Tax).
  • Experience working in a small or medium-sized accountancy practice, handling multiple clients.
  • Proficiency in Xero accounting software.
  • Comfortable working directly with clients to resolve issues and provide support.
  • Strong attention to detail with confidence in asking questions when needed.
  • Ability to work independently with a can-do, results-driven attitude.
  • Excellent communication skills to liaise effectively with clients.
  • Organised and able to prioritise tasks for maximum efficiency.
Desirable Skills & Qualifications:
  • Xero-certified (preferred).
  • MAAT-qualified (preferred).
