Qualifications
- Degree in Engineering (BSc / MSc / BEng / MEng) or completion of two thirds of formal study towards degree course and commitment to complete studies, or equivalent experience. Candidates must supply a copy of their qualifications as required on the advert. Candidates who do not hold a relevant degree or have not completed two thirds of formal study towards a degree course with a commitment to complete studies should request a degree exception form and submit this with the application.
- Build D&R experience and use of WERS, FEDE, FEDE WB, AIMS and TCe; training available if required; fully competent in MS Office applications (Essential).
- D&R Engineering Excellence qualifications in progress.
- Build competency in Teamcenter for visualisation to compare and analyse design information.
- Knowledgeable about GPDS and responsible for leading suppliers through GPDS timing, thus ensuring parts are delivered to all development & production build phases (Preferable).
- Good problem‑solving skills with a proven capability of handling multiple tasks and managing deadlines.
- Experience in working with cross‑functional and global teams, working calmly and effectively with suppliers from any global region (Preferable).
- Experienced & confident reviewing & presenting to colleagues at all levels within the company.
- Willing to travel as required for launch support / supplier visits.
- This is a UK position; applications will only be accepted from current UK employees (FoB employees only). Priority will be given to displaced lateral employees in the first instance.

Responsibilities
Your responsibility will encompass both the technical and commercial performance of the parts, making this position exciting and challenging at the same time. You should be strongly drawn to building and applying engineering excellence on closure part design and demonstrating Ford OS Behaviours to complete deliverables.
Development
- Lead virtual series design of parts in the closures CPSC structure.
- Assess and recommend package and design interfaces of surrounding systems and components, considering closure functional requirements.
- Build and administrate an understanding of all relevant requirements, including weight, performance, function, styling, quality, ergonomics and service through the virtual series.
- Build the FMA plan for responsible parts in cooperation with internal and external partners.
- Support on‑time delivery of fully optimized and efficient designs that meet cost and investment targets.
Release
- Support approval of part and system scorecards in preparation for engineering milestones (FDJ, FEC & MP1).
- Lead production release of the responsible parts using the respective systems (TCe, FEDEBOM, WERS).
- Manage follow‑on changes via WERS/Change Control Process.
Verification
- Build and apply understanding of virtual design verification in cooperation with surrounding closures team to meet virtual series gateway deliverables.
- Complete physical system verification as part of the DCV prototype phase, delivering PEC and FEC milestones.
- Build and apply engineering excellence to assess verification evidence. Complete problem‑solving root cause analysis where performance is not met.
Launch Support
- For all build events, witness and confirm controls according to FMA documentation.
- Support and build ability to resolve issues on‑site until achievement of OK‑To‑Buy.
- Complete APQP / PPAP deliverables with STA and supplier teams.
- Support the manufacturing team to achieve volume production.
