Job summary

Immunocore is seeking a Senior Scientist I - Characterisation to join the Oxford Immunocore team. You will contribute to the development of characterisation methods for biopharmaceutical products, including peptide mapping (LC-MS/MS) and intact mass analysis, and support process development with thorough analytical work.

You will design and execute biochemical stability and comparability studies, write protocols and reports, and lead lines of investigation.

Qualifications

• Experience in development of HPLC based peptide mapping methods and mass spectrometric characterisation of recombinant proteins or antibodies.
• Experience of glycosylation analysis of recombinant proteins or antibodies.
• Independently coordinated extensive testing of protein biomolecules.
• Characterisation of proteins expressed in microbial and mammalian systems.
• Understanding of expected post-translational modifications in biological systems.
• Bench-based biopharmaceutical laboratory experience.
• Expertise in electrophoretic, chromatographic or mass spectrometry methods.
• Experience in assay development and stability study interpretation.
• Proven ability to work in diverse teams and drive process changes for efficiency.
• Presented detailed scientific findings to internal and external audiences.

Responsibilities

• Supporting impurity characterisation and identification of drug substances and products.
• Contributing to development of characterisation methods (peptide mapping LC-MS/MS, intact mass).
• Designing biochemical characterisation, chemical stability and comparability studies.
• Writing study protocols and reports; preparing presentations for meetings.
• Independent testing and mentoring others; proposing new experiments.
• Setting priorities for own work and team objectives using data-driven guidance.
• Sharing knowledge across departments and providing technical guidance on equipment use.
• Communicating findings to senior management and partners.
