Immunocore is seeking a Senior Scientist I - Characterisation to join its CMC team in Oxford. You will lead and execute protein characterisation studies, including LC-MS/MS peptide mapping and mass spectrometry, supporting drug substance and drug product development and impurity analysis.

The role requires independent testing, data interpretation and presentation to senior colleagues, with mentoring responsibilities and collaboration across biopharma and research teams.

Qualifications

• Experience in development of HPLC-based peptide mapping methods and MS characterisation of recombinant proteins or antibodies.
• Experience of glycosylation analysis of recombinant proteins or antibodies.
• Independent coordination of extensive testing of protein biomolecules.
• Characterisation of proteins expressed in microbial and mammalian systems.
• Understanding of post-translational modifications in biological systems.
• Bench-based biopharmaceutical laboratory experience.
• Expertise in electrophoretic, chromatographic or mass spectrometry methods.
• Experience in assay development.
• Familiar with stability study principles in biopharma.
• Diversity in team environments and ability to drive improvements.
• Presentation of scientific findings to internal and external audiences.

Responsabilités

• Support impurity characterisation for drug substance and drug product.
• Perform protein sequence and PTM identification including glycosylation analysis.
• Develop characterisation methods for ImmTAX and other products (peptide mapping LC-MS/MS, intact mass).
• Design and execute biochemical characterisation, chemical stability and comparability studies.
• Contribute to study protocols and reports.
• Independently test and propose new experiments; mentor others.
• Share knowledge across departments and provide technical guidance.
• Maintain accurate laboratory records and mentor colleagues in data handling.
• Present findings at meetings with management and partners.
• Adhere to EHS policies and safe laboratory practices.
