Job summary

Vision for Education is seeking a Behaviour Support Assistant to work with secondary pupils in Burnley. You will support students aged 11–16 in small groups, applying behaviour management techniques to help learning and engagement.

The role focuses on de-escalation, mentoring and delivering tailored educational activities, with potential for a permanent position after a qualifying period. DBS checks are part of safeguarding measures.

Qualifications

• Confident in behaviour management to de-escalate threatening or aggressive behaviour.
• Mentor and engage with students, delivering designed educational packages.
• Resilient, empathetic and patient approach to pupils.
• Desirable: experience in a specialist school setting.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils in small classes (Year 7–11) with behaviour and learning.
• Mentor and deliver specially designed educational packages.
• De-escalate challenging behaviour and support students with SEMH needs.
