Job summary

Blackburn Central High School is seeking a dedicated Behaviour Support Practitioner to join the Pastoral Team and support delivery of high-quality education through robust behaviour support.

You will build relationships with students, provide mentoring and bespoke interventions, support emotional regulation, and work with parents and external agencies to promote positive behaviour and successful reintegration. This role is based on 37 hours per week, term-time plus 5 days.

Qualifications

  • Passionate about supervising young people.
  • Skilled in behaviour management and pastoral care.
  • Strong communicator with a calm, professional approach.
  • Organised, proactive and confident working with multiple stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Build strong relationships with students, providing mentoring and behaviour support.
  • Provide coaching/mentoring and bespoke interventions to students and staff.
  • Support emotional regulation strategies.
  • Encourage engagement within lessons.
  • Promote positive behaviour and decision-making.
  • Deliver 1:1 mentoring sessions.
  • Support pupils during challenging situations.
  • Liaise effectively with parents, carers and external agencies.
  • Contribute to IEPs, behaviour plans and EHC processes.
