Job summary

Blackburn Central High School is seeking a dedicated Behaviour Support Practitioner to join the Pastoral Team and support delivery of high-quality education through robust behaviour support.

You will build relationships with students, provide mentoring and bespoke interventions, support emotional regulation, and work with parents and external agencies to promote positive behaviour and successful reintegration. This role is based on 37 hours per week, term-time plus 5 days.

Responsibilities

  • Build strong relationships with students, providing mentoring and behaviour support.

Job overview: We are seeking a committed Behaviour Support Practitioner to work as part of the Pastoral Team to support the delivery of high-quality education to our students through robust and effective behaviour support.

Key Responsibilities
  • Build strong relationships with students, providing mentoring and behaviour support.
  • To provide coaching/mentoring and bespoke interventions to students and staff
  • Supporting emotional regulation strategies
  • Encouraging engagement within lessons
  • Promoting positive behaviour and decision-making
  • Delivering 1:1 mentoring sessions
  • Supporting pupils during challenging situations
  • Working closely with pastoral teams
  • Celebrating success and progress
  • Monitor attendance, behaviour and pastoral records (including CPOMS)
  • Support progress time, assemblies, reintegration plans and managed moves.
  • Liaise effectively with parents, carers and external agencies.
  • Contribute to IEPs, behaviour plans and EHC processes.
  • Supervise students during breaks, lunchtimes, trips and out-of-hours activities.
  • Uphold safeguarding, behaviour and school policies at all times.
