Behaviour Support Assistant / SEN Teaching Assistant (Sixth Form)

Full-Time | Immediate Start
Location: Barking, East London
Salary: £90‑95 day (dependent on experience and/or qualifications) — weekly pay (PAYE)
Start Date: Jan 2026

The Role

A well‑established special educational needs (SEN) setting in Barking, a short walk from Barking Riverside station are looking for a dedicated and patient Behaviour Support Assistant to join their team on a supply basis. The successful candidate will be supporting young people aged 3‑19 with a range of learning difficulties and social, emotional, or behavioural needs as they prepare for adulthood.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about empowering students with additional needs to develop independence, confidence, and key life skills in a supportive environment.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Building positive and trusting relationships with students to encourage engagement and wellbeing
  • Providing behaviour and emotional regulation support, promoting positive decision‑making and resilience
  • Supporting students in both classroom and vocational learning settings
  • Acting as a consistent role model, promoting independence and social development
  • Assisting with personalised learning plans and helping students achieve their individual goals
  • Collaborating with teaching staff, therapists, and families to deliver holistic, person‑centred support
  • Encouraging participation in community and work‑related learning opportunities
About You

Experience supporting young people with special educational needs, SEMH, or behavioural needs is highly desirable.
