Job summary

A reputable education provider in East Finchley is seeking a dedicated 1:1 SEMH Support professional for a two-week cover position. You will provide personalised support to a secondary-aged pupil, building trust and promoting engagement. Candidates should have experience with SEMH needs and strong communication skills. Job description

Position: 1:1 SEMH Support - Pupil Referral Unit (Two-Week Cover)
Daily Rate: £105 per day
Start Date: Immediate / As soon as possible

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide personalised, consistent 1:1 support to a secondary-aged pupil within a PRU setting
  • Build positive relationships based on trust, empathy, and clear boundaries
  • Support emotional regulation and behaviour using trauma-informed strategies
  • Assist the pupil in accessing work set by teaching staff
  • Promote engagement, confidence and positive behaviour
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff, pastoral teams and external professionals where required
Essential Requirements
  • Previous experience supporting young people with SEMH needs (school, youth work, residential care, mentoring or similar)
  • Ability to remain calm, patient and resilient in challenging situations
  • Confident working independently and using initiative
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • A proactive and reflective approach to supporting learning and behaviour
  • Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one)
