Job summary

GM Performance Power Units is seeking a Battery Controls Engineer to design and optimize embedded software for the high‑stakes ERS team in Concord, NC. You will implement real‑time control algorithms for battery protection, SOC, and SOH on the HV battery management system.

You will work with cross‑functional controls and electrical hardware teams, perform MiL/SiL/HiL testing, and ensure software quality underpinning a Formula 1 powertrain.

Qualifications

• Requires embedded software development experience, with real-time constraints and safety considerations.
• Proficiency in C/C++ for embedded targets and real-time OS.
• Experience with HV battery management systems and control algorithms.
• Knowledge of CAN, Ethernet, and other bus protocols; familiarity with MiL/SiL/HiL is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop, test, and maintain embedded software for HV battery management systems and components.
• Implement real-time control algorithms for battery protection, SOC, and SOH.
• Collaborate with controls and electrical hardware teams to ensure cohesive operation.
• Support MiL/SiL/HiL testing, trackside validation, and software verification.
